# How Memside works

Memside is an AI continuity and memory hub with a reusable context layer. It
works beside existing AI tools rather than replacing them.

## A simple flow

| Step | What happens |
| --- | --- |
| **Save** | Useful information is saved as a Memory. |
| **Organize** | Tags, Subjects, and Connections keep related information together. |
| **Connect** | A supported AI tool is connected to Memside. |
| **Continue** | Saved information is available in a later chat or work session. |

This flow keeps useful context available without copying every conversation.

Memside Library adds a separate reuse path. Public Templates can be inspected
and then downloaded, added to Memside, or used through supported connected
tools. Import remains selective, and public Template content does not gain
access to private Memories.

## Information that can be saved

Memside can hold:

- notes, decisions, goals, events, links, and references;
- tasks and checkpoints;
- preferences and instructions;
- files and imported text;
- information about people, companies, projects, or other topics;
- links between related Memories.

## Using Memside with an AI tool

A connected AI tool can search or read saved information when it is needed.

For example:

1. Save a project goal, a preferred writing style, and the next task.
2. Start a later session in a supported AI tool.
3. Ask the AI to find the saved project information.
4. Continue from the saved task without repeating the earlier details.

Only selected information is saved. Memside does not require a copy of the
entire conversation.

## Keeping information organized

Several product features help keep saved information clear:

- **Tags** add simple labels.
- **Subjects** group information around a person, company, project, product, or
  other topic.
- **Facts** hold reviewed information about a Subject.
- **Connections** link related Memories.
- **Checkpoints** record the current state of work and what should happen next.

These features are optional. A useful Memory can be saved without setting up
every type of organization.

## Choosing what can be shared

Every Memory has a sensitivity setting:

- **Private** is suitable for normal personal or project information.
- **Public** allows broader use by connected AI tools. It does not create a
  public web page.
- **Secret** keeps the information inside the Memside app and away from
  connected AI tools.

Passwords, recovery codes, payment details, and access keys should not be saved
in Memside.

## What Memside does not do

Memside does not:

- replace an AI client or its current conversation;
- save every chat automatically;
- make stored information public automatically;
- perform actions in another app without the controls provided by that app.
- treat a public Library Template as private account data.
