# Memside overview

## What is Memside?

Memside is an **AI continuity and personal memory hub**. It gives one place to
save the context that matters so it can be reused across different AI tools,
chats, and devices without starting from zero each time.

Instead of repeating the same project details, background, or instructions in
every new conversation, they can be kept in Memside and shared when needed.
That makes it easier to continue work across chat apps and AI coding tools such
as ChatGPT, Codex, Claude, Antigravity, OpenCode, and Claude Code, as well as
other AI clients, without losing context.

Memside is built for both **non-technical users** and **developers**:

- Save notes, tasks, links, events, checkpoints, and other useful context in one
  place.
- Decide which AI tools can read or update that context.
- Reduce repeated prompts, repeated token usage, and repeated explanation.
- Discover and reuse public AI working setups through Memside Library.

Memside is not just a note-taking app, and it is not another AI chatbot. It is
the memory layer that helps AI tools work with the same reliable context while
keeping saved information organized, portable, and under the account owner's
control.

## What is AI continuity?

AI continuity means AI tools can continue from useful saved context instead of
starting fresh every time.

It does not mean saving every chat or pushing a full history into every AI tool.
It means keeping the context that still matters, such as rules, preferences,
checkpoints, decisions, notes, and task state, so the next AI session can
understand what changed and what should happen next.

Memside supports AI continuity by giving that reusable context a separate place
outside one chat or one provider. When work moves between chats, models, apps,
or devices, the right context can be reused without repeating the whole
background again.

## What is a personal memory hub?

A personal memory hub is one place to keep AI context that should be reused
across tools.

In Memside, that can include a User AI Profile, reusable prompts, Operating
Rules, project notes, task checkpoints, decisions, links, and other saved
Memories. The goal is not to replace documents or notes apps. The goal is to
keep the context that helps AI work more consistently.

This is useful when context is scattered across old chats, documents, prompts,
and reminders. Memside keeps the important parts organized, searchable, and
ready for connected AI tools when needed.

## How is Memside different from built-in AI memory?

Built-in AI memory can be helpful inside one AI app, especially for remembering
preferences or useful facts.

Memside is different because it is designed for selected context that can move
across connected AI tools. It can be used for project checkpoints, Operating
Rules, task state, notes, and decisions that should not stay trapped inside one
provider's memory.

This helps reduce vendor lock-in. If useful working context only lives inside
one AI app, switching tools becomes harder. Memside provides a user-controlled
memory hub for context that may need to be reused elsewhere.

## Does Memside save every chat?

No. Memside is designed around selected memory, not automatic full-chat
archiving.

Saving every chat can create context bloat because old ideas, temporary
instructions, and outdated decisions may get mixed with the context that
actually matters. Memside works better when the reusable parts are saved:
rules, checkpoints, decisions, notes, task state, and useful project context.

The account owner stays in control of what becomes a Memory. That keeps saved
information cleaner and makes it easier for connected AI tools to find the
right context later.

## What is PMX?

**PMX**, the Protocol for Memory Exchange, is the structured memory format used
by Memside. It gives each Memory a clear shape, with fields for information such
as title, body, tags, dates, attachments, and sensitivity.

That structure matters because AI tools work better when important context is
organized instead of buried in long chat history. A PMX Memory can tell an AI
what the Memory is about, when it happened, how sensitive it is, and how it
should be used.

In practical terms, PMX helps Memside support:

- cleaner search and filtering;
- more reliable memory retrieval;
- easier updates and history tracking;
- better portability across different AI tools and apps.

The goal is simple: saved memory should not be locked inside one provider or
one chat thread. PMX helps Memside keep saved context reusable,
understandable, and easier to carry across tools.

## What is Memside Library?

[Memside Library](https://library.memside.com) is the public catalog for
reusable AI working setups called Templates. A Template can combine
instructions, examples, reference material, and supporting text files for a
particular task.

The Library and the private memory application serve different purposes.
Memside stores private continuity context. The Library provides public,
versioned Templates that can be inspected, downloaded, published, or added to
Memside through an explicit review flow.

Public Template pages can be explored without signing in. Personal actions,
private drafts, imports, and creator workflows require the shared Memside
account.
