# Settings

## Overview

Settings is the control center for the Memside account.

The available pages cover profile details, usage, appearance, notifications,
imports, AI providers, connected access, exports, and permissions.

## Profile

Open **Settings > Profile** to review:

- username, display name, email, and optional website or biography;
- the account profile picture;
- password and connected sign-in providers.

The same account profile is used across Memside and Memside Library. A Memside
node avatar appears until a profile picture is uploaded in Memside.

## Usage & Metrics

Open **Settings > Usage & Metrics** to review account capacity and
privacy-bounded Library activity. Available Library information can include
complete Template downloads, individual file downloads, and grouped Template
or file names. Downloader identities are not displayed.

Recently loaded Library metrics can remain visible while a refresh completes.

See [Usage and metrics](/product/usage-and-metrics/).

## Appearance

Open **Settings > Appearance** to select **System**, **Light**, or **Dark** and
choose an accent colour. The accent is used for primary actions, links, toggles,
focus rings, and selected controls. Memory types and status colours remain
unchanged. Appearance choices do not affect Memories or account data.

## AI Permissions

Open **Settings > AI Permissions** to control:

- access to the saved User AI Profile;
- access to Memory tools through MCP;
- access to Library tools through MCP;
- approval prompts for supported MCP Memory changes during Beta;
- requests from connected AI tools to delete Memories.

Memory and Library access can be enabled independently. Deletion still requires
explicit confirmation when AI deletion is enabled.

See [AI permissions](/product/ai-permissions/) for each switch, common
configurations, and the interaction between account-level and Profile-level
access.

## User AI Profile

Open **Settings > User AI Profile** to manage multiple purpose-specific
Profiles, select one Default, control individual AI availability, and link
relevant Memories.

## AI Skills

Open **Settings > AI Skills** to import, review, activate, edit, or remove saved
instruction packs.

## Notifications

Open **Settings > Notifications** to review the complete private notification
history from Memside and the Library. Filters are available for source and
unread state. Notifications can be marked as read, and read notifications can
be cleared.

The header bell presents the newest items. Opening an item marks it as read
without changing the current page unless a separate action link is selected.

See [Notifications](/product/notifications/).

## LLM Configuration

Open **Settings > LLM Configuration** to connect the provider used by the
in-app assistant.

Available paths:

- **Custom (OpenAI-compatible)** for hosted providers;
- **Local (Ollama)** for models running on the same computer.

After saving the details, select **Test**.

See [In-App Assistant](/connect/in-app-assistant/) for complete setup.

## Developer & API

Open **Settings > Developer & API** to access:

- the Memside MCP server URL;
- API keys that can be created and revoked;
- read-only or read-write key access;
- the API key list and connection activity;
- independent Memory and Library MCP tool controls.

The full value of a new API key is shown only once. Save it immediately and do
not place it in a shared file.

Each API key has an **Activity** action. The activity window shows up to 25
recent requests with the action, result, time, and request reference. Memory
content is not shown in this list.

See [Connection overview](/connect/mcp-and-api/) and
[Developer quickstart](/developers/).

## Import & Export

Open **Settings > Import & Export** for all one-time imports and portable
exports.

Import options:

- **Calendar file** accepts an `.ics` file and creates Event Memories.
- **Chat or long text** accepts pasted conversations, documents, and long notes.
- **CSV file** imports multiple new Memories from the provided template.

Chat or long text import supports an optional title, a large text field, an
optional tag, and a split count for creating several Memories. Supported
ChatGPT JSON exports can also be converted into readable text.

Export options:

- **CSV** for spreadsheets;
- **Markdown** for readable notes.

CSV import:

1. Download the CSV template.
2. Add title, content, type, status, sensitivity, tags, and optional dates.
3. Use `DD-MM-YYYY` for dates.
4. Upload the CSV.
5. Review and confirm the import.

CSV import creates new Memories. It does not overwrite existing Memories.

## What's New

Open **Settings > What's New** for the latest product changes and a link to the
full changelog.

## Legal

Open **Settings > Legal** for the current Privacy Policy and Terms.

## Delete Account

Open **Settings > Delete Account** to permanently remove the account, saved
Memories, settings, owned Library Templates, and account-linked Library data. A
final confirmation appears before deletion.

This action cannot be undone.
