Edit, version, and unpublish Templates

Open the account menu, select My Templates, choose the relevant Template, and select Edit. Owned Templates remain available from this area when they are private, published, or unpublished.

Use the Details tab to change the name, description, category, tags, or license. Save and publish the change after checking the public meaning of every field.

Eligible metadata-only changes update the listing without creating a new file version. Examples include correcting a description or improving tags while the published files remain unchanged.

Use the Content tab for file text, file names, additions, removals, or folder changes. These changes create a private draft beside the current public version.

Content changes must pass review again. Publishing the approved draft creates the next immutable version automatically.

A version update is appropriate when published files change, including:

  • correcting an instruction or example;
  • adding or removing a file;
  • reorganizing folders;
  • changing a reusable Profile, Rule, or Skill;
  • updating content for a changed workflow.

There is no separate manual version-upgrade control. The version number advances when reviewed file-content changes are published. Metadata-only changes do not advance it.

Release notes should briefly explain meaningful differences. Example:

Added a short planning example and clarified the weekly review steps.

Use Discard changes when an unpublished edit should not continue. This restores the latest published details and files. The public version remains unchanged throughout the draft process.

Unpublishing is appropriate when:

  • published guidance is outdated or misleading;
  • a replacement requires more work;
  • the material should no longer appear in public discovery;
  • a rights, privacy, or safety concern needs investigation.

To unpublish:

  1. Open the public owned Template page.
  2. Select Unpublish.
  3. Review the confirmation.
  4. Confirm the action.

The Template moves to a private state and remains accessible through My Templates. Ownership and version history are retained.

An eligible unchanged release can be republished. If file content changed while private, the updated draft must complete review before a new version can become public.

Open Memside and go to Settings > Usage & Metrics. The Library area shows complete Template downloads, individual file downloads, and a list of the most downloaded files from owned public Templates.

Metrics do not reveal downloader identities. See Usage and metrics for the complete guide.

Periodically check:

  • whether the description still matches the files;
  • whether examples remain accurate and generic;
  • whether external links still work;
  • whether the selected license remains appropriate;
  • whether recent feedback indicates a confusing instruction;
  • whether a file update needs a new reviewed version.
